Good Morning!

Have you seen one of these adorable video floating around online?

Greeting your students at your classroom door isn’t a new concept- in fact, many of us have been doing this for years!

Many teachers have embraced the idea behind greeting their students with student choice- allowing each student to choose HOW they want to be greeted.

What I love about this is that it will not force the students to do something they do not want to do. Not everyone likes being hugged, or even touched. This idea is inclusive. Everyone has the right to their personal space.

The other reason why greeting your students is so powerful is that it helps set the precedent for the day. Showing your students you are happy to see them is so important! Students come from all sorts of backgrounds. They may have had a rough morning. Giving them this chance to show them you are happy to see them can really help boost their spirits.

In the past I have greeted the first student, and then each student took a turn greeting each other. While they do enjoy this, I decided to go back to being the only greeter this year. It is just so much more powerful to be the one that is showing the students you are happy to see them.

I created a set of posters for myself and my colleagues. I am happy to share this resource for free. It comes with five student choices. Use them all, or just a few, to suit your needs! Click on the image below to download your copy!
